Welcome to the Pentecost Term of our Data Processing course for Senior Secondary School 2. Over eight academic weeks, you’ll master graphic design tools, web development packages, internet fundamentals, and essential computer maintenance—all through hands-on workshops, practical labs, and CBT-based assessments.

Week 1: Graphic Packages I

• Topics Covered: Introduction to vector vs. raster graphics; exploration of core tools in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW.

• Activities:

  • Draw basic shapes and apply fills/strokes

  • Design a simple logo using pen and shape tools

• CBT Quiz: Identify vector vs. raster characteristics

Week 2: Graphic Packages II

• Topics Covered: Advanced features—layers, text effects, gradients, and masking.

• Activities:

  • Create a multi-layered poster

  • Apply clipping masks to integrate images and text

• CBT Quiz: Match tool names to their functions

Week 3: Graphic Package II (Practical)

• Topics Covered: Real-world graphic design task workflow.

• Lab:

  • Collaborate in pairs to design an event flyer from scratch

  • Export in multiple formats (JPEG, PNG, PDF)

• CBT Assignment: Submit your exported files and answer a workflow checklist

Week 4: Web Design Packages I

• Topics Covered: Introduction to HTML/CSS editors—Dreamweaver or Visual Studio Code; understanding file structures.

• Activities:

  • Build a basic webpage with headings, paragraphs, and images

  • Link to external CSS for styling

• CBT Quiz: Identify correct HTML tags and CSS syntax

Week 5: Web Design Packages II

• Topics Covered: Responsive design—media queries, grid/flexbox layouts, and mobile-first approach.

• Activities:

  • Convert your Week 4 page into a responsive site

  • Test layouts on different screen sizes

• CBT Assignment: Submit a screenshot gallery showing responsive breakpoints

Week 6: Internet Fundamentals

• Topics Covered: How the internet works—IP addresses, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and web hosting basics.

• Activities:

  • Trace the path to a website using traceroute or online tools

  • Explain domain registration and hosting setup

• CBT Quiz: Match protocols to their descriptions

Week 7: Internet Practical

• Topics Covered: Advanced browser tools—developer console, network inspector; cloud storage and collaboration tools.

• Activities:

  • Debug a webpage layout using DevTools

  • Set up and share files via Google Drive or OneDrive

• CBT Assignment: Provide screenshots of a fixed console error and shared folder permissions

Week 8: Maintenance of Computer

• Topics Covered: Routine software updates, antivirus scanning, disk cleanup, and backup procedures.

• Activities:

  • Perform and document a disk cleanup and defragmentation

  • Install an antivirus, run a full system scan, and generate a report

• CBT Quiz: Sequence steps for safe software maintenance
